Newcastle bulk water project making progress

NEWCASTLE Municipality says it is making significant strides in addressing the city’s water challenges through the Blaauwbosch Bulk Water Project. This critical infrastructure development initiative is designed to serve five wards in Newcastle and is progressing steadily, according to the municipality’s online post.

The project involves the design and construction of a DN450 continuous welded steel pipeline and the refurbishment of the existing reservoir. Its primary objective is to increase water capacity in the area, thereby meeting the growing demands of the community.

The Blaauwbosch Bulk Water Project is currently approximately 70% complete, with significant progress made in constructing air valve manholes and concrete footings, according to the municipality.

Upon completion, the Blaauwbosch Bulk Water Project is expected to have a profoundly positive impact on the local community. The project will enhance the water supply infrastructure, providing a reliable and efficient service to residents. This, in turn, will support the area’s growth and development, ultimately improving the quality of life for its residents.

The mayor of Newcastle, Cllr DX Dube commented that the Blaauwbosch Bulk Water Project is an exhibit to the municipality’s commitment to improving essential services for the communities.

“We are dedicated to ensuring that all residents have access to reliable and sustainable water resources, which will drive economic growth and improve quality of life,” he said
