ELECTRICAL solutions company, ElectroMechanica, celebrated 40 years of business and launched its sought-after 2025/6 product catalogue with a national launch in October.
At the company’s KwaZulu-Natal base in Riverhorse Valley, operations manager, Mike Cogle shared some company news over a branded cappuccino and delicious pancake.
“We’ve had a very busy four days,” says Cogle who explains that attendance at the presentations has been their highest since Covid. “It is also amazing that in the internet age when all our product information is on our website, customers still want to get their own printed copy of our industry ‘digest’ in their hands.”
Cogle says one of the highlights in the new catalogue is TechTop, the company’s new range of electric motors. “Apart from their other features, these motors are available with IEC 3 rating which is attractive in terms of the latest local and international efficiency standards.”
He says the company’s Delta automation products are another range at the cutting-edge of innovation used in processing plants and manufacturing environments.
Cogle explains that the Polar monitoring system can be set up to “monitor anything anywhere in the world”. “Customers can specify what they need to monitor, be it temperature, pressure, flow rate, whatever is critical to their business, and, because the system is cloud-based, the data is accessible anywhere, anytime.”
With new and innovative products, training becomes even more critical, and ElectroMechanica offers various on-site and Durban-based training options. “Also included in our catalogue this year is a fully equipped automation training rig which customers can buy off-the-shelf and use to train staff, practice and run their own refresher sessions.” The company’s Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) training courses are popular and include theoretical and practical components.
Cogle says the KZN region has seen an uptick since the end of June/July when business confidence seemed to improve. “Our customers have been keeping us busy down the South Coast, in Richards Bay, further north and in greater Durban,” he says.
The company was established in 1984 under the name ‘Finvato’, before changing to ElectroMechanica in 1988. The Durban office was established in 1990 in Umbilo. The company moved to its current Riverhorse Valley premises in 2013, and Cogle says ample warehouse capacity allows the branch to keep a substantial stock holding for quick local delivery.
Reflecting on the company’s growth and success, Cogle says ElectroMechanica secured exclusive distribution agreements with quality brands over the years which has helped it to build a reputation as a trusted, reliable business partner.
“We know how critical our service can be to a project,” he says. “When there’re supply chain issues in the port or geopolitical crises, we don’t expect customers to put their projects on hold. In the recent past we have had to turn to airfreight to meet some tight deadlines to keep our customers’ projects on track,” he says.
Cogle is optimistic about KZN’s prospects, saying the company is active across a wide range of sectors, from construction to agro-processing, mining and manufacturing. “We have a wide range of products, many of which are suitable for small to medium-sized operations and we’re looking to grow. We see potential in KZN agriculture, for instance,” he says.
The 2025/6 catalogue features over 1000 new products, bringing the total to over 11,000 items, giving customers access to the most advanced technologies in motor control, energy efficiency and power distribution and much more. Each product is produced to deliver exceptional performance while adhering to stringent standards of sustainability and compliance.
