Demolition robots bring safety and speed to construction sites

UNDERSTANDING that demolition work can be hot, uncomfortable and demanding, Husqvarna Construction has developed a new range of demolition robots to make every working day safer, easier and more productive for the user.

“We believe the results speak for themselves and that demolition and construction professionals will appreciate the new intelligent tech, smooth operation and high levels of performance the new DXR range delivers,” says national sales manager at Husqvarna Construction, Lionel Zietsman.

Four new DXR models offer an average of 20% power increase, improving operator safety. “The new machines have functionality that optimises available power in a way that allows work to continue at high power levels even if the task may be tougher due to circumstances – such as in warm environments, for example,” says Zietsman.

He adds that in addition to this, a long-distance remote connection keeps the user safer and clear of any potential risks. “The new models are third-party certified in terms of safety. An all-new remote-control unit makes precision operation easier and enables the user to work in challenging areas with a remote-control range of up to 100 m.”

The new unit also enables an improved overview of machine status that contributes to increased uptime and productivity. With various multi-tools and factory-installed packages available, productivity and areas of application can be quickly enhanced. The new range has also been engineered to facilitate easier troubleshooting, thus reducing downtime even further.

“Achieving high-quality, fast results is literally in the user’s hands. These new machines are an extension of the operator, increasing power and offering improved control over the factors that define how successful the job will be,” says Zietsman.

Users can expect the following from the new units:

  • A wide range of attachments makes the DXR suitable for a wide number of special applications, such as delining, dismantling, cleaning or even skid-loader work.
  • The robot can help to overcome hazardous environments. The risk of collapse, smoke, dust, heat or vibrations is no longer real, as the operator can perform the job from a distance.
  • The unit is well-suited to demolishing partial structures, such as pipes, staircases and ceilings, where high precision is needed to avoid damaging the remaining structures.
  • Due to its smart, compact design, the DXR machine can easily manoeuvre through small openings or be lowered into narrow shafts to perform tasks efficiently in confined, hard-to-reach spaces.
  • The DXR can undertake dismantling work indoors, or in sensitive areas such as hospitals, hotels or laboratories because of its direct exhaust-free electric motor, low weight and compact dimensions.
  • Easy-to-use joysticks place precision at the user’s fingertips. There is a convenient thumb switch, superior control due to immediate responsiveness and multiple operator patterns for precision targeting.
