Durban expo will explore ways to help industry get back on track

AFTER a hiatus due to COVID-19, the KwaZulu-Natal Industrial Technology Exhibition (KITE) kicks off at the Durban Exhibition Centre today.

This is a gathering of industrial suppliers that will showcase and demonstrate the latest technologies, equipment and services that the event’s organisers believe can improve production efficiency, lower operating costs and improve safety.

A big focus coming out of the pandemic will be automation, digitisation and predictive maintenance. The event will also provide visitors and exhibitors the opportunity to learn from the keynote speakers who will be hosting free seminars throughout the duration of the expo as well as the opportunity to network with leading industry experts.

Gary Corin, Managing Director of Specialised Exhibitions, which is responsible for KITE, said the safety and wellbeing of exhibitors, suppliers, and visitors is of paramount importance.

“Our exhibitions provide a platform for our exhibitors to engage face-to-face with their clients, launch new products and stay up to date with industry trends. The human condition demands face-to-face interaction. This provides countless opportunities to connect with others in a way that cannot be achieved online.

“People have slowly and safely started re-engaging, and it is time for business to do likewise through the events and exhibitions platforms. We look forward to hosting a strong event for the industrial technology. We appreciate the input, engagement, and support of all industry stakeholders in making this decision. These stakeholders share our commitment in delivering these events while meeting all government and World Health Organisation public health protocols,” he added.

Mellisa Govender, Marketing Director of RS Components South Africa said the company was excited to be one of many exhibiting at this year’s KITE event.

“We’ve waited a long time to reconnect with our customers and industry colleagues. Events like this are key to showcasing the latest products and solutions for industries like manufacturing, food & beverage, automotive and packaging.

RS will be showcasing our private label range RS Pro – short for ‘professional.’ A high performance industrial range designed by engineers and manufactured by global oems but without the high price tag. RS Pro is definitely one of those solutions that will aid customers in reducing their costs without losing on quality especially coming out of the pandemic,” Govender said.

KITE 2022 takes place between February 16 and 18, from 9am to 5pm, at the Durban Exhibition Centre, and will also play host to several co-located events.
