WOMEN have many exciting and unprecedented business opportunities in the transport industry in South Africa.
This was the key message delivered by sector stakeholders who presented at the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport’s (CILTSA) first-ever “Business Opportunities for Women in the Transport industry” event held in Johannesburg recently.
Led by Programme Director Noni Lebeko, Founder of LKM Human Capital Solutions, the speaker line-up featured industry leaders, experts and specialists sharing tangible opportunities available in the industry, as well as the compliance requirements and procurement processes of key organisations.
Sponsored by vehicle tracking company Ctrack, CILTSA partnered with five membership-based associations focusing on women in the transport industry – the first time that these five organisations have supported one event.
They are African Women in Supply Chain Association (AWISCA), SA Network of Women in Transport (SANWIT), Tshwane Women in Transport (TWIT), Women in Logistics and Transport: South Africa (WiLATSA) – a forum of CILTSA, and Women in Trucking.
CILTSA’s Executive Director, Catherine Larkin said, “The event succeeded in achieving what we set out to do: share real, tangible business opportunities for women in the transport industry, whilst informing them of the compliance requirements and procurement processes of various organisations.”
She added that it provided a powerful platform for women in the industry to network and explore possible partnerships, joint venture opportunities and more.
