KZN company launches with world-first crushing tech offering

A new Pinetown-based company has launched what it says is a world-first in crushing technology.

The brainchild of veteran engineer and inventor Desmond Staniland (91) working with former airline captain Christopher Hepher (46), the StanHeph Deep Throat Crusher and its associated equipment and accessories have applications in industries as diverse as mining, quarrying, construction, road building and agriculture.

The company said in a statement that the idea for the novel crusher was born 12 years ago, but “due to life’s circumstances, the company was finally initiated as an entity during the coronavirus crisis and lockdown of 2020”.

The crusher, invented and designed by Staniland, is based on his experience in the rock crushing businesses and farming over the last 50 years.

“Our technology is a world first. Our engineering partner BTL Engineering & Project Management has made this dream possible,” the company added.

“Our experience covers all crushing needs, from fixed plants to mobile rigs. We cater to the farming community with our own farm implement design and manufacture. Our ready-mix plant design and fabrications are all done in-house, thanks to our engineering partner.”

StanHeph is the proprietary owner of a concept called Deep Throat Crushing. “This encompasses a combination two in one and three in one process. The combination Deep Throat Jaw Crusher will crush Primary and Secondary material in one pass. All our Jaw Crushers, crush to a standard 8:1 ratio. The same crusher can be adjusted to crush the standard 4:1 when needed.”

The company said it can now offer a combination 12:1 ratio crush. “This means in one pass we can offer a final exit product in aggregate fines.”

The company designs and produces all its products in KwaZulu-Natal.
