THE Oceans Umhlanga mixed-use development officially launched its R1.4 billion North Oceans Umhlanga residential tower at a roof-wetting on Friday, 25 July. Southern Sun also confirmed to Moneyweb on 24 July that the hospitality group will be investing in the development of the South Towner, which will be the group’s first foray into branded hotel residences and apartments.
The North Tower forms part of the R4.3 billion Oceans Umhlanga mixed-use development , which includes the award-winning Oceans Mall and the five-star Radisson Blu Durban Umhlanga Hotel.
Brian Mpono, CEO of Oceans Umhlanga Development said, “This is not just a property launch; it’s a celebration of how far Durban has come, and a reflection of the developers’ (Vivian Reddy and Rob Alexander) tenacity and unwavering perseverance. The North Tower introduces over 258 high-end luxury apartments, ranging from studios to four-bedroom units, including penthouses, all designed with ocean-facing views of one of the most iconic stretches of Africa’s East Coast. Each unit features premium finishes and direct access to Oceans Mall.

It marks Southern Sun’s return to the area nearly 60 years after it opened the Beverly Hills Hotel and adds to its existing portfolio of over 90 hotels and more than 300 conference venues across Southern Africa.”
